Hey Eve,

Do vestigium grow that fast normally? I'd bet he'll be ready to breed in spring at that size..... Have you ever read anything about hatchlings from small clutches growing faster than those from large clutches? I think I have read that somewhere, but can't remember where. Anyway, that might be a possible reason that Chippewa is so huge. He's a monster.
Here's something of interest for you though. In my hometown, all the streets are named after Indian tribes. I happened to drive past Chippewa st. the other day. I thought it was funny. =) Have also passed Cherokee, Cheyenne, Hopi, and Zuni. As if I didn't have lizards on the brain already.....=) I'll talk to you soon.

Funny, I use everyone of those names you saw, ehehhehe
And I know where your coming from with the lizards on the mind thing, heheeh.

Vestigium kids are much larger than C. collaris kids thats for sure, actually Chippewa, is the size of an adult C. collaris now.

It may have had something to do with him being the only hatchling , I'm not sure, Phil. But Hopi and Zuni's only child a female C. collaris hatched in august, is also HUGE for a juvey.

So maybe it has a LARGE deal to do with it, no competition, for food, while very young.

As far as Chippewa the vestie, his appetite is awesome, always hungry, eats his reg meals and then some Hope he stays that Robust and healthy,
