What kind of hay should I give my hermanns?

Timlis_girl04 Oct 20, 2004 05:26 PM

Sorry to keep bugging ya'll but I really want to do everything I can for my hermanns tortoise Timli. I was wondering what kind of hay ya'll would recommend for me to give him. I had been giving him alfalfa but someone told me that it isn't good for him. I want a few more opinions on this subject though. Thanks.

I give mine timothy hay. They don't really like to eat it but they love to burrow in it and hide. It is really cute. Good luck!

You can use Alfalfa as well as any hay. Hermans are not big on grazing anyway so the risk is basicaly nonexistant.

Hermans are mainly browsers but are also opportunistic feeders. That means that they spend most of their time eating leaves and what ever else that strikes their fancy.
