Nephurus milli? For Derek, Deadrats, milli..or anyone else!

jip Oct 20, 2004 07:46 PM

Hi, I'm getting 2 hatchlings on saturday. I have read everything I can find. I was wondering if those who keep them and breed them can give me some helpful tips and any experiences you have had. ie. temps, humidity, substrate lighting. I would prefer to hear from anyone with experience. I don't always trust the care sheets I find.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Jip

I wish you well with them, you will not be disappointed, that I know. They are really easy to care for, just, as you indicated, not a whole lot out there on them. Although not the best, the GGA Gecko publication (newest one) has the second half of Nephrus in it and it does cover milli, the only thing in print that I know of. Substrate 50/50 CaCO3/bedabeast. Rhachy temps. Moister than other Nephrus, more like Oedura conditions...

Beware they walk around like a drunken sailor and are given to falling over their own feet. I have not seen this in any other gek species. They are not the most intrepid hunters, so crix with rear legs removed makes life easier for them. Wet hide box is a must. Mine eats crix, mealies and zophobas, not picky eaters like cresteds. VERY friendly, handle well, but a bit fragile, spindley legs and all that, plus the balance thing, but seem to like being out and about. Put pics up on the WEB site so go there for more and contact me privatly for more info. Best of luck I am envious...

It appears not easy to get info on more obscure gex here, not there is a better place on the net. Feel free to contact me on these pups privately, not a problem. I dont know a whole lot, but have kept mine alive for over a year and experimented on a bunch of different substrate combos until I found one that seems to work. I would REALLY like to breed these puppies... Good luck and happy gecking.
