What does microchipping do??np

It identifies the snake....just like microchipping any other animal...when you can it...the ID comes up on it and you can identify the snake as yours or not...some people do it...most dont....its mostly a security measure for high end animals.

It really is worth it, Costs around $49 for the vet visit and $12 to activate/register the chip. That is Los Angeles prices so that might be high. Now finding a vet that will do it might be the hard part, if anyone is in Los Angeles and wants to know one that offers it I can help.

Are you referring to "Avid" chips ?
If so,where are they registered at?

I have 3 here at home that were Avid chipped locally for roughly the same price you say it cost to register them.
They didnt go to the vet for it though.

I work as a vet tech and I can say that every vet hospital and shelter I have been to has a scanner to check for a mircochip. there are a few different brands, but they all do the same thing. This is great for animals that are escape artists espcially, but I don't see the harm in chiping your herps. I haven't done exotics, so I don't know how expensive they are!
