i currently have a baby beardie which is really starting to concern me. He is exhibiting signs of severe MBD (when i hold him he seems lifeless. in his cage he can barely drag himself) he is eating however, i kind of assit him, but he eats. My concern is, is it MBD or something else. Ihave him enclosed in a 40 gallon breeder with another female. both are under 8". my lighting includes a 12" reptisun and a Powersun 160watt spot bulb. i also use reptical and reptivits. I am an experienced dragon owner. I also have 3 adult waterdragons in an 6x6x6 ft enclosre. I have never seen this before please help. Today i seperated him and am using a reptisun 160w on his quarentine tank as well. any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. i dont want to loose this guy...he has amazing red colors and is from a good blood line.thx

Have you had him in to the vet for a wellness check and a fecal? I'd start there, sounds like you've covered your bases on general husbandry but just in case you want to double check go ahead and list your temps, substrate, how often you mist, what and how large of food, etc.

hey thanks for your response. i am unfortunatly too poor to bring him to a vet (college senior) and in the army (lol they dont pay me enough) but i know that i should. i saw him deficate today, and it appeared normal. the temps r in the high 90's(95 and up) to low 100's(100-105), and low to mid 80's on the cool side they r misted and bathed frequently. bathed 2-3x week and misted 1x-2x a day. i am using 3/4" crickets, superworms, with Kale, mango, cactus leave, and yellow acorn squash. as far as substrate goes, i am using play sand (silica free, with a slight mixture of calci sand), which i understand is a no no, but my 2 females (his sisters) have and are doing extremely well. they have grown so much, while he has remained the same size. as i mentioned, i have 4 years experience raising waterdragons, and have yet to loose one. i have rescued dragons, and saved one life. the poor guy has what appears to be no energy. he is very lathergic. it breaks my heart. I will try to upload some pics later of him, but again i thank you for your response, and i am hopeful that you can help us. thanks

Hello,

You may want to try a product by t-rex called hydro life. I have found this product to be extremely helpful in getting "sick" babies healthy. Is it possible you have too much uvb lighting. I have heard you can expose your dragons too much uvb, causing sick dragons. Just a thought.
