We've had Rufus for about 8 months now. He measure's 15 inches long with about 1 - 2 inches missing due to the cats. We hold him ALOT, pet his head, rub his belly, you name it we've done it and nothing works. He fights us tooth and nail to get away. I don't get it. He should be calm enough by now. What gives?

maybe it has something o do with cats? if the cats have atacked him enough to loose his tail he may be stressed out over them.

I agree. Ichabod was totally stressed by my cats, and they harassed him every chance they got. I ended up moving him and his terrarium to my office. He is really starting to calm down now, and much less jumpy. I also have more time to hold him during the day. Do you have a room where the cats could not have access to him at all?
