Cage Question

ta2edskin Oct 20, 2004 10:55 PM

I was wondering if anyone had bought a screen cage from www.exoticlizards.com and if so how do you like it. If not where is a good place to buy one from? I have a 5 month old veiled and was thinking about getting a 3'x2'x2' would that be big enough for him when he is full grown? Thanks Steve

That cage size will be very minimal. A taller cage will make it easier to provide more bushy foliage, a gradient of light, temp, and humidity. Most chams spend a lot of their time in the top portion of the cage due to the light there, and a 2X2 foot area is not very large. I'd get the largest cage you can find space for. Your cham will be more active and happier for it.

The screen cage that I am getting is 3'h x 2'w x 2'd. The cage will be sitting on top of another cage I built that is 4'h. The room I have him in I have a humidifier on a timer in the room so it is always 50 to 60% plus I mist the cage 2 to 3 times a day. I am going to hook up a mist system that I have soon. Have you ever used Pet-Tech The Big Dripper 1gal before? If so how good does it work? Thanks Steve

I've used drippers in the past, but not recently. Most of my chams preferred to have their foliage sprayed thoroughly instead. Dripper valves can get fussy over time, so keep it clean and check the drip rate...they often change on their own. Also, chams don't always use the dripper to drink enough. I'd plan on spraying the foliage thoroughly once or twice a day just to be sure.

I plan on using the dripper and hooking up a mist system or else hand mist the cage. steve
