Incubating Eggs!

the_vindicator Oct 21, 2004 01:57 AM

My famale laid her eggs within the past six hours however i dont have an incubater set up. Is there anyway to make a quick one with cmmon house hold products and potting soil? Any help would really be appreciated at the soonest possible time.

Not really. You could try the fish tank method. Take a 10 gal tank and put a couple bricks in the bottom. Fill with water to just below the top of the bricks. Put a submersable heater in. Put the eggs in a sandwich container with moist perlite or vermiculite and put it on top of the bricks. Incubate at 83 degrees for 60 days or so.
The problem is that it usually takes several days to get an incubator stabalized and the fish tank method is a constant adjustment type thing. You'd be much better off to go with a hovabator and even those take a day or 2 to get ready. If you decide to throw away these and wait for the next clutch (should be in about 30 days) freeze them first just to be sure that they don't end up hatching at the dump.
