wewantpeace2003 Oct 21, 2004 07:51 AM

my healty 2 1/2in radiated tortoise that i have for 2 years have stop eating today.and he just sit at the same position for quite a long time.he just won't move when i put it at different place.

but he still struggle when i pick him up.and he also pull back his leg and head when i touch it.and he still drinks a lot.the eyes are wide open and clear.no fluid coming from the nose.

is this something to worry about if it does not clear up in a day or 2?

I would just keep an eye on him. Where are you from? Give me your e-mail and we can talk.

Last year my one of my radiateds did the exact sme thing where it would not eat all of the sudden. I went through an exhaustive vet checkups and etc and found no pathology for the anorexia. During the same time, i had purchased another hatchling and it too had some anorexia. I decided to combine the two together after the quaratine period and this seemed to help. I have spoken to other breeders who state that they have never experienced this problem. What I have found is that they will usually decrease their appetite as the weather cools down. What I recommend is that if you have ruled out illness and the animal is not losing weight then it will likely be OK. Just then just do simple things like warmup the enclosure, vary the diet, frequent soakings, try Mazuri. You can contact be personally be e-mail for further advice. Good luck
