I'll go with Pacific. On a San Diego, the black blotches just behind the head run together. However some Pacifics & SD's look pretty much the same. I've seen wild SD's in Malibu that are much darker & muddier than the bright ones favored by breeders, for obvious reasons.

No, sorry, the actual nomenclatur (compare Roudriguez/Escobar...)
for the subpecies catenifer is Pituophis catenifer catenifer. Some other subspecies are still in discussion (Lee Grismer and some others experts), but not the subspecies c. catenifer.
