Beware of Commies and Mutts!
Those are neat boas..
I had a friend working in SA in the '70s with a petroleum exploration firm. In '78 he brought me a suitcase full of boas that looked like those.. direct from Paraguay. He got them on the pipeline roads himself..
I will look for the old slides and see if I can get them scanned-up.
Very interesting boas..

I'd like to meet you & see some of your animals upclose. Dave
Hermann,
Those are great looking Boas but I have a question. Running through the countless ads for boas on here, I have seen a couple of ads for Ecuador Boas. These looked very "Peruvian" to me when I saw the pictures and really did not resemble your boa's at all?
Not being the BCC guru that you are (I still like my Mutts)I am curious if you have seen the ones in the ads and what your opinion was on them? Either way they were nice looking Boas, but they looked mislabled to me, Like I pointed out they appeared to be Peruvian Boas (still a nice looking snake) but not an Ecuador Boa.
Thanks
Jim Hopkins
Hoppy,
I can't say for certain, but I believe these "Ecuador" boas to be Peruvian as well. A possible explaination is that they were collected in Peru and shipped out of Ecuador (possibly due to legal reasons).
Again, this is only a hypothesis, not necessarily the only explaination.
Take care,
Eric
wow
In Ecuador c. constrictor and also c. imperator boas occur. The former are located east of the Andes. The imperators are found west of the Andes (on the coastal side). The Andes are the barrier that separates both subspecies.
I haven't seen the advertisements in the classifieds but I suppose that Boa c. c. are offered there because imperators from Ecuador are hardly available in captivity.
The grandparents of my animals came as illegal aliens to a breeder in Germany in the mid 80ies. My animals are an F2 offspring of them.
Regarding the expo: I only go to Daytona every other year, so this year I will not be there. I would gladly travel to Daytona this year also, but my wife has to take care of all the animals during my absence and I don't want to expect her to do this every year.
