How much space do mice need to breed successfully?

jgayle762 Oct 21, 2004 12:39 PM

I've decided to try my hand at breeding feeder mice, and picked up some 11.5"x7" lab cages. I was originally planning on keeping trios of 1:2 in these cages, but I recently read that mice will stop breeding if they feel overcrowded. Would I be better off keeping pairs in these cages, or would trios probably work?

Thanks in advance!

I think trios would work. Depending on how far you are growing the pups and all it will be fine. Keeping 25 mice for long will be too much though.
