Be patient and watch for the signs. Most females will go through a hormonal color change when gravid or producing follicles, and will become blue or a shade of bluish-green. Feeding will usually stop about 30 days before ovulation and they also take on a flattened look to the head. Ovulation can be hard to detect for first timers and even for experienced chondro breeders, but is noticed by an obvious mid-body swelling..............looking as though they just ate a very large meal. They also usually perch in an uncomfortable position of loose coils during this time. You can check out Greg Maxwell's site at chondroweb.com. It has the most information you'll find on chondros. Good luck and I hope you get many fertile eggs.
