Just curious. Thought they would eat any bug, my daughter says no, that spiders are poisonous.

I know some birds eat spiders, not the big hairy kinds, but I have seen birds pick off the kinds that live on flowers and plants. I see spiders running around my turtles pens all the time but I have never seen the turtles take an interest in them. Maybe they are too fast. I would not actually collect spiders and feed them to your 1 year old turtle, but if she was to ever go after one on her own I wouldn't worry about it. Turtles eats lot of insects that are unappetizing.

My box turtle regularily eats trantulas, wolf spiders, black widows, and others that I find out side and around the house. Its actually quite interesting to see one kill a tarantula and eat it. take care collecting them. I'd recommend dusting them with calcium or vitamins before. The hair on siders work well in holding the dust. I would avoid scorpions because it could get hurt.
