Coloration question

ig_daddy Oct 21, 2004 06:10 PM

Iggi is done sheddeing off of most of her head. I have included a photo of the top of her head, along with a sheet of white paper. This allowed me to color correct the picture. My question is, is this coloration normal? Iggi has a slight pinkish cast to her scales, and there is a scale that has what looks like a yellow dot on it. Does anyone else's iguana look like this? Iggi is a 4 year old female.

The top scales of your iguana head are dark, (mine too) i've been said that this can be cause by stress or too cold temp. What do you think ?

When my iggys are cold their heads get dark like that. They go back to normal when they get warm again.

I like your marquee about your iguana owning you. Actually, we don't think of Iggi as "owning" her. Rather, she is the only member of the family that doesn't have to dress up on St. Patrick's day, as she is already green. Thanks for the coloration response. I've never heard of a green iguana with pink highlights. I thought it was unusual.

Myka has a pink tinge to her head as well. She also has a couple spots on the top of her head that have the same yellow coloration as the ones on Iggi, I'm assuming it's nothing to be alarmed about if yours has them too
