Hermmans substrate

Just wondering, anyone out there who has a hermans tort, what do you use for a substrate and why?

I use the indoor/outdoor carpet. The flat velvet kind, not the fake grassy kind. That kind is to rough on there shells and they will try and eat it. I got mine at friedman brothers. You can probably find them at most hardware stores. I have two that are cut to fit the bottom of my torts pen. When one gets dirty I just pull it out and put the clean one in and then wash the dirty one until next time. You can throw them in the washer. It is so easy and I don't have to worry about them eating something they shouldn't like sand. My Hermann torts are very young still so once they are older I will probably switch to something they can burrow in. In the mean time they have a little corner in there pen that I put timonthy hay in and they burrow in that.
