This may seem like to a duh to some of you here, but I was having a problem with my argus's appitite and couldn't figure out why she wasn't eating like I've read they should. To me my cage parameters seemed ok temps, humidity, and size.
I found my problem to be with substrate depth, lack of hide spots, and the cage only opened from the top. My new enclosure corrected all of these problmes. I have sliding glass doors, almost 2 ft of dirt/sand/cypress and a nice ply hidespot. After moving the monitor to its new cage, it went from consuming about 4 mice a week to 4 or more a day! I'm not sure if it was one of the changes I made, or a combination of all of them, but it seems to be working.
Hopefully this will help some other keepers out faced with the same type of problem.
