Handling panthers

biohokie Oct 22, 2004 07:05 AM

I know less handling generally equates to longer lives for chams, so I generally don't pick up the little guy unless I
need to move him for cleaning. He definitley doesn't like it and usually just trys to crawl out of my hands. My question is will my not taming him lead to agressive behavior later as he gets closer to adulthood?

Not necessarily. Chams can be very individual regardless of how much they were handled when young. The best way to keep him tolerant of you is to hand feed him treats. He'll "remember" that you are a source of good things, not a big weird looking predator.

And they seem to mellow with age anyway.
At least once they ar about a year and a half old or more.
