When you say cooperate, what do you mean? Do you mean stop flinging poo on you?
The reason I ask is that I have a chocolate banded kingsnake we call "Hershey Squirt" because he flings poo every time I try to handle him. I have had him since he was a baby and now he is about 4 or 5 years old. I have given up on handling him. So do you mean you have solved this problem with yours?

New to the forum,
Janel

thanks
I just learned how to post messages and pictures yesterday, so there is still a lot of novelty to it for me. I have enjoyed putting my snake pictures up. Most everybody I know thinks I'm a freak for keeping snakes, so it is nice to finally find a place to communicate with people who get how cool it is. I have really been enjoying the forums and pics.

Janel

P.S. so any hope for Hershey Squirt, or do I just keep feeding him and admiring his beauty (without the poo flinging )

co-operate- meaning eating in my hand w/o having a musk-fit. And I doubt if the problem is solved yet. More likely i'll get it again, lol. gorgeous cali btw

I have seen a lot of your pictures and your snakes are awesome. So I the compliment measn a lot. Hershey is pretty, but he is a real "stinker"!

Later,
Janel

Cali's are the most stinkiest of the getula genus, of the nine in my collection only three co-operate. Snakes can change though, just like people, lol.

Hey I have a question. I was looking again at your picture and notice how deep brown your kingsnake is. My snake was actually a gift from a well meaning friend (who knew I liked snakes-not realizing he was giving me a poo flinging S.O.B.).
Anyway he bought it and it was called a "chocolate banded" kingsnake. Is that just a nickname for a cali king or does that actually mean something about the color? Mine has a more sort of milk-chocolate color, but yours is a more dark chocolate color. I notice you called yours a cali king, so is there anything in the name? I don't usually see the name chocolate banded anywhere.
Always wondered about his since I got the little guy as a Christmas present several years ago.
Appreciate the info.
Janel

mine is a dark choc. and yours is a milk choc. i guess? Kerby's the undisputed cali expert maybe he'll let us know.

Kerby... Oct 24, 2004 12:13 PM

Since California Kingsnakes are variable in shades of color (black to brown) and (white to yellow), we try to label them. The term "cali king" is just short for California Kingsnake and does not represent any particular morph of cal king. Anything closer to brown are known as chocolates.
