Poop or vomit?

geicogecko Oct 22, 2004 12:30 PM

Yesterday I noticed a cricket at the bottom of the gecko tank that was shaped like it had been eaten but it had no poop on it nor was it digested. It was all stuck together..
My question is...can geckos puke and if so is this a bad sign?

That sounds like regurgitation. There are many reasons that lead to regurgitation, for example, if they've eaten too much, or they don't have enough heat for digestion. If this is just a one-time thing, I wouldn't worry too much. BUT if the regurgitation persists, then its a more serious problem (such as parasites) and you should take it to the vet.

No there is a difference between regurgitation and vomit.Regurgitation could be the result of not enough heat or overeating( food not digested).Vomit however is more serious and it could possibly be parasites.Vomit-mostly digested regurgitation- not digested.

The cricket is whole..it doesn't look digested. I just gave them the last treatment for parasites last week, maybe that's what it is. I just can't seem to get rid of the parasites, no matter how much I clean or take them to the vet.
