does anyone use these pads for their boas? I'm thinking of installing a series of these into some caging specifically for gravid female surinams. They look really durable and could be controlled using a simple rheostat.
thanks,

i've used the larger pig blankets in 6 foot visions for 8 - 9 foot boas..
definately need to regulate the heat, and would need to drill holes to route cables.
big and bulky.. cumbersome, if you ask me.. I didn't really like them much...
got rid of the visions too and have all Boaphile Plastics now - don't have to worry about additional heat and i'm very happy with them.

I use the 18" X 18" Kane heat mats is all my custom wood cages.
I have 3 Kane heat mats in my custom 3 cage system for over 6 years now and they still work as good as new. I mount them under the cage floor this way they are not inside the cage. I find Kane heat mats have no problem heating thought the 3/4" plywood I use for my cages.

I have a 5 row stack of Vision cages and the ones on the top and the ones on the bottom have kane pads controlled by theromostats. All of the cages in between are run on Exoterra Heatwave(rheostst controlled). The kane pads have an optional rheostat you can get for them, its a proportional output so you might have to dink with it for a while to get it set right. They(kane pads) last forever and are more reuseable than other heat sources. The only down-side to them I can think of is that if they ran full on they'd get pretty hot. But if you had a space of around 1-2 inches between the cage and the pad, you could probably bypass thermo contol devices.
Good Luck-
