i have several ' shoe box ' racks and i am looking to start making my own. where can i get those big heating strips that have plugs already connected at a good price. going through reptiles mag i have seen some for $49 and up. that seems pretty expensive. thanks.

I just heat the whole room with a $29.99 ceramic heater from K-Mart........

but how much electricity does that take? I didn't think those were too efficient.

I use radiant heat panels on most of my cages and the ones that I don't are in the plan to get switched over to the radiant heat soon. I saw my electric bill go down alot when I made the switch.

I have no idea....how much electric it uses....after 12 years of using them I cannot tell what percent is for the snakes ......

wife says $75 a month......?........total bill is $125 a month.....lights....hot water....heater 365 days....air conditioner for home.......water run by electric(well pump)......etc etc......

...........it works for me.......I cannot see having heat tapes run for racks all the way around a room and all the wiring .......connections...etc.....too much clutter..too much work.......too many things for stray mice to knaw on.....
