A whole new batch of newbie questions

The_asshat Jun 29, 2003 02:18 AM

Hey all I'd like to thank everyone so far with my questions, but now I have some more

First I have noticed a few mites here and there(probably means millions are setting up shop) and I'd like to go about ridding these little beasts from my snakes cage. My question is I've heard about sealing up the cage outside and cooking the buggers to death. Does anyone have any instructions on how to do this?

Okay my second question is my snake yawns on ocassion which I've read can be a sign of infection. I haven't noticed anything inside her mouth or bubbles and the humidity in the cage stays around 54.She seems to do it every couple of days or so. What do you think?

Third and this isn't so much a question as an observation. I took her out tonight(her name is Samantha) and noticed how much she loves to explore... everything. My keyboard, mouse(not the furry kind), headphones and everything in between. How do you all support your snakes while they are trying to see the world?

Sorry about the long post, but thankyou for your help.

Better idea = Sawyer's Tick Spray (can get at a plce like Wal-Mart for $6ish). It's the same thing as Provent-a-Mite, but cheaper. Take out snake and water bowl, fog cage for an hour, air out for 1 hr, mix up substrate, fog 1hr, air out 2hr. Give snake plenty of drinking water, cause it might dehydrate snake for a while. If, somehow, a few mites survive, repeat in a week or so.

Nothing to worry about. Just yawning. If it was several times a day, plus snot, then worry.

I just try to support the middle area of whatever's not supported by my desk/chair/etc.

Yup.
