Dropped Tail, please help

Hsoj Oct 22, 2004 10:30 PM

Today i pulled open the top of my cage without looking and my gecko was hanging on it. When i slid off the top, he got scared and dropped his tail. The problem is that only about half broke off and he can still use his tail normaly. Should i pull it the rest the way off, or will it drop on its own? I feel absolutely terrible about it. Any other information about how to treat dropped tails would be appreciated.

Thank you

it should be fine with what's left of the tail. ive got a friend with a short tail because part of it was lost before she got it. he's doing fine.

Half of the tail isnt cut off. At the point in his tail were it detatchs it only detatched about half way. So now his whole tail is hanging half way on. I don't kno if i should just leave it alone or pull the rest off. Is it possable for the tail to heal, or will it just start rotting on his body?
