found snake in fl.?

I found a snake in the Tampa fl. area,it looks alot like a greyrat but it has an extremly long tail and a chevron pattern on its back and a all white belly.Its about 16 in. long.I cant figure out what is any help would be great.

Thanks for the quick reply,but are black racers constrictors?I didnt think they were but I might be wrong,this one is a constrictor.

Racers do not constrict. Neither do any of our local venomous snakes. Yours is probably a rat snake.

Things that come to mind for me, (assuming you have witnessed it constricting prey, not just wrapping around your fingers)..

Gray Rat juv.
Short-tailed Snake (Stilosoma) - but they may not get around Tampa, and although they are slender, they aren't long tailed.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Show us a pic, and we could get it right away.
