RIP Kimba

Right before I typed the previous message, I went in and checked on my kids (pets) and all seemed well. Then I came in here and typed... got a drink and went into the kids room to give some feeder fish to my two snappers... When I stopped to do my ritual wake up tap on Kimba the albino burms cage, she didnt respond, so I tapped harder, then leaned in to see her mouth partly open..
I tore the cage open and reached in and she was cold... but the thing is... she is still moveable... and she WAS alive when I checked in...
I saw my snake alive, minutes before she died. Now I sit here watching her, warming her, making sure. Every little thought makes me think she moved again... And my luck is there is no 24 vet nearby, lest I drive 40 miles or so to the one who only has 1 herp vet for a nite a week...
My beautiful little blondy...gone.
This is it, no more new pets for a long time. Nothing can replace Kimba... She was my baby... I took her for walks, showed her off... Fed her the best of rabbits and rats... Bathed her weekly...
She is gone...
I'm going tomorrow to bury her in the family pet cemetary... along with Sherman and the dogs... Sorry to drag on....

Sorry to hear about your loss. My family and I had to put our friend Pivo down today (ref. My Sad Story). I've never had to do anything more difficult in my life. Hope you don't mind me using your idea in my user pref. I like the memorial. Gonna miss ya Piv's!

My two German Sheperds will keep him company... One was beat to death by some punk kid in Miami, while I was on my tour of duty in Germany, and the other was put down at 14, when the neighbors thought we had abandoned her and took her to the pound when we were out for the day...
I'm sorry to hear about Pivo... I know how you feel..

When I first got her over a year ago, I noticed that she wheezes (not a wheeze but a grunt) when you hold her, but never at any other time. So I took her to the vet and he did a battery of tests and the only thing he noticed was one lung was smaller than the other (a few mm). The previous owner never noticed any problems either.
The vet said if she is active, eats well and doesn't seem sick, the only thing it might be is a congenital problem.
The only other problem she had is she took forever to poop (When I first got her) But over the past year, she got regular.
I called the vet up the day after she died asking about a necropsy, and he told me it would be $400 for a python of her size, and no other vets in the area do necropsies on reptiles.
I don't really have $400, so I guess I never know for a fact what killed her, just that she'll be missed, and it makes me pay more attention to my other kids
