Couple of Questions About Tangerine Albinos

elcheal Oct 23, 2004 07:53 AM

1.What would I have to breed to an albino to get a tangerine albino?
2.How much do tangerine albinos normally cost?
*I think i am going to go into breeding geckos with my friend. When i find out what sex my albinos is, we're going to need to get the opposite sex of whatever morph that we want to breed with him/her. She will keep hers at her house and mine at my house and then bring her's over to my house whenever we want to breed them. Is there any other morph that you would reccomend breeding to an albino? We want to breed for an expensive morph since we'll only be breeding every once in a while. We're doing this for both the money and the expierence, don't get me wrong but the extra money would be nice. Sorry for the long post Thanks for your help, maybe you'll see our babies for sale in the next couple of years!

Well I would say get a tangerine male..... I would go with a hypo or super hypo..... You will not see any tang albinos until the babies from your first breeding are old enough to breed and have babies.... If you cross a tang with an albino all of your babies will be het for albino..... You would take the best looking babies with the most tang in them and breed them back to either the albino parents or eachother and you should get some baby tang albinos.... Anyway no one here can fault you for wanting to make some money breeding reptiles but do not make it the only reason you do it..... You should have total respect and love for reptiles as well..... Good luck on your project and have fun.....

I see them ranging from $100-$1200.. When it gets into the thousands were normally talking about Hybinos, truely amazing albinos.

The same way you get a Super Hypo Leopard Gecko.

"Selective Breeding". There's been plenty of questions about that stuff lately.. It sounds simple, but it can take generations to get the desired result.. Start off an Albino pair that has a reduced amount of Lavender and start from there. Just breed babies to parents or find outsiders with a very little amount of Lavender and breed them to the babies(I'm not very keen on inbreeding babies to babies, but that's just me..). If you want to make Hybinos, and make them fast, you should just buy some Hybino parents or some Tangerine Albinos that are closer to Hybinos.

Now, I'm confusing my brain because I woke up not so long ago, lol. Anyway, I think that helps you get an understanding of how the proceedure is basically done when making Hybinos.

If you're starting with an albino, try to get a tang het for albino. Otherwise, it will take you a few generations to breed the hets back to each other before you get any tang albinos. By the time you produce any, their market value will likely have dropped.

Now, if you're going to work with tang Bell alibnos or tang Rainwater albinos, there's plenty of potential there.

Go to AMGecko.

Tangerine Albinos are pricey, but it would be money well-spent.
