Agressive, nasty, cobra baby Brooks King,

Passport Oct 23, 2004 08:37 AM

She is a small, but growing fast, girl who is by far the most defensive and nasty snake I've ever seen. No amount of handling changes her mind. She doesn't just stay in the S position constantly but the double-S position. Any movement will bring lunges which she literally flies through the air to bite. She is about 3 months old and I'm wondering if anyone ever had one this nasty calm down so it can be handled and enjoyed up close? She has been named "witchey" as that seems to fit her disposition. She is beautiful, however, and is possiblely het for Snow. But how does one work with a large female like she is showing now?

I had a Splendida like that in the past. Would S-position when you would get near him, strike the enclosure, strike you hand, always good for a bit or two or three or four. Once he settled down,I would put him back. Did this routine about four times a week, and after a while he would musk once in a while, bit ever so often. By the time I had him acting like the nice calm, tractable king that he should be, I ended up trading him for another snake. Stoopid me huh? LOL.
I would think your guy should be no problem taming town, but then again you do have those rare individuals out there that are just going to stay pissy. Good luck.

Mines 3 months old too, same as yours. But, I wouldn't worry about her dispostion yet. They're always more defensive as juveniles. Give her some time and I'm sure she'll settle down

LOL....maybe disturbed? She doesn't often go hungry . But, that's her typical stance whenever I go to clean her tank, or give her a feed. Gotta love the little ones!
