At what age can you introduce 2 condas for a pair? I have a 5 month old female yellow like I'd like to find a male friend for, is it too early to do so?

I'm almost positive that they have to be at least 4 feet long. I could be wrong though.

there is no way a female would be ready that soon and i highly doubt a male would. NERD told me they had bp males breed in 5 months though but I am sure they are on a heavy feeding cycle. Nobody would attemps a female anaconda anywhere near that young.
I wasn't so much asking if they could breed this young, thats insane, just if it would be a good time to match two unrelated condas who in the future MAY breed.

I don't think you have to match them. lol. I'm pretty certain when the time comes you just put them together.
They dont meet up in the wild to see if they like each other or talk about thier future. lol
When the times comes you just put them together and they do what thay do.
Kelly would be a good person to talk to about it. HE does Greens. But I'm sure its no different other than size since yellows are smaller.
I would deffinetly wait on breeding though. At least till its been of breeding age for 2 years. that way the female can be nice and big and healthy and ready for breeding. I've seen bad things with condas bred too young, and too small. Bulk her up first! But not to the point of obesity.
You've got a long wait ahead of you.
only introduce for breeding time...too many risks with housing together.
I concur on several fronts. Eunectes notaeus should be 2 years old for males and three years old for females. I am mainly speaking with the health of the animalin question and not the earliest time that E. notaeus could be bred. Housing them individualy is also required. The reason(s) for this are feeding is greatly simplified, health concerns (if one of the individuals came down with something, it is less likely for disease transmission), and pheromes will not be detected or grown accustom to. Breeding E. notaeus in my experience is also extremely easy. I have had males attempt to spur me while moving them into the females enclosure. It is reccommended however that the females be placed in the males "territory" but I have not had any issues with these snakes.
