Tiger Rat snake just laid eggs, can someone please give me a little info?

flammingcat Oct 23, 2004 01:48 PM

I have only had this snake for about a month, give or take a week, I looked in there today and she is laying eggs, can someone please tell me what the incubation temps should be for them and the humidity,We are having internet problems today and I keep getting booted, so I thought I would ask you guys and keep trying to research it on my own, without getting booted. She is still laying them right now, so any help would be appreciated. I have no clue if they are fertile or not, like I said I have only had her for a month, I'm guessing she was probably a fresh import when I got her.
Thanks
Shannon

I would go with about 80F and around 90% humidity. That should be fine for them until you get a species specific answer.

i find it easiest to be simple with any type of eggs......

get a tupperware shoebox and fill 2/3 with vermiculite......1/1 with water (fill with water and wring out excess) dont keep too wet.....place eggs in singularly about half submerged......close lid and place in a warm closet or on the fridge where its a lil warmer and constant.....

then wait....

this works for every snake i've had the luck to lay for me....

let us know how it goes

I hatch my Tiger Ratsnake eggs at 82 degrees and they take 60 days at that temp. I use coconut husk (sold as a brick) called reptile bedding in most pet stores. I use this on all eggs and have hatched a couple hundred eggs over the last few years with near perfect hatch rate. I moisten and then let it dry somewhat so it can wick excess moisture. Call anytime. (913) 849-3537.

I know this is awfully premature, but, um, are you going to be selling any of the offspring in the event that all goes well? Beautiful snakes.
