Injury Treatment?

gvbryan Oct 23, 2004 01:54 PM

I have an ackie that has a spot on his tail that is down to the flesh. I have been cleaning it, and putting peroxide on it, then neosporin. It keeps getting dirt in it though. I put a bandage over it for a couple days. He won't try to eat it will he?

i had an argus/flavi that had a nice chunk taken out of the bottom of his tail. I let it alone, and cleaned it occasionally with distilled water, they are healing machines it closed up in about two weeks and it was a nice chunk that is still missing but its all healed.

The healing time will largley depend on where exactly the wound is and how much it gets agitated. I'd suggest hydrotherapy twice daily for 2 weeks. If no improvement, a trip to a vet would be ideal. Hibitane Ointment is also far superior to polysporin. YOur vet may prescribe silvedene ointment which works about the best.
