Help! Her water broke??

viperbitex Oct 23, 2004 02:11 PM

Hi. I have a columbian red tail who I think her water broke this morning, but I can't be sure. Shes been gravid for about 4 1/2 months now, she hasn't eaten for the whole time, and recently she has been aggresive when touched when she's use to be been super handlable. This morning her vented a thick yellow and clear bubbley fluid and was holding her tail at about a 75 degree angle. I called my friend and we watcher her for about 30 minutes but nothing happened. We figuered that scince it is her first litter she probaby didn't want us to watch, so we left. Two hours later she is curled up in a ball, but nothing is coming out of her. HELP!!

make sure shes in a place where she feels comfortable 1st of all ... if shes trying to let loose then she probably will try and hold em in if she feels threatened or if she keeps seeing people around her cage .. try and just leave her alone for a few hours and see what happens

NO BEAUTY LIKE THE BEAUTY OF A TRUE REDTAIL !!

a gravid female will try to slowly expell any fluids she's carrying while pregnant. During the first couple months of pregnancy its a mix of fluid and fecal matter. But towards the end(1-2 months depending on type of boa), it is fluid only. I've got a Dumerils female that was due at the earliest on the middle of September, but at the latest into November- she's been doing exactly what you've described for the last 1.5 months. So I would say you girl could be very close(I assume she's a Common Boa).
Good Luck-
