melanogaster boa

Hi. I have been surfing around the web and I came across a site with "melanogaster" red tail boas. They are from peru, but are way way different then peruvians. They have much darker red and black, almost purple tails. I went and e-mailed a bunch of places and no one has any for sale. If you go to google and look up melanogaster boa you can find the pics. Does anyone have any info on them??

The only two guys I know that dabble in them is Steve at Serpent's Den and Vin Russo at Cutting Edge. I'm not sure but I think I read something about the on the Boa Constrictor Page, written by Vin, that stated that they weren't a viable sub-specie and were probably just a locality.
