a monkey wrench in the plan!

golfdiva Oct 23, 2004 07:05 PM

A year ago I bought an ornate boxie from a breeder in Florida (I'm in west/central Michigan). She is now 4 years old. I didn't hibernate her last year. This year I had her all set up to hibernate in a basement bedroom that used to be our daughter's.

Monkey wrench: Our daughter suddenly decided to move home again! I am sure she will want the room to be warmer the the temp required for hibernation. Now what do I do?

Can an ornate hibernate outside in Michigan?

Can it hibernate in an attached garage? (The temp does occasionally get below freezing. Our dog does fine there however.)

Can I just skip the hibernation again this year? (This is the direction in which I am leaning.)
Any other suggestions?

Thanks all!

You just might want to skip hibernation. You definately don't want to try to indoor hibernation in an area that goes below freezing.

You MIGHT try hibernation outside, but I think it might be too cold in Michigan now to start the process.

Thanks for your input. I was leaning towards skipping hibernation, so it's good to get someone else to confirm my instints!

Lol, she doesn't hibernate. She comes into the garage at night, where she has her dinner, and a doghouse.
