Sticky horned frog saliva

ginevive Jun 29, 2003 07:44 AM

I was feeding my horned frog (not using tongs, I know, I was asking for it) on nigtcrawlers. he got my hand accidentally and left a very tacky substance on me, presumably saliva. Does this aid in partial digestion in the frog's mouth before the food hits the stomach? Or is it merely a "glue" to help hold prey? It was even tough to wash off, maybe that's what they make super glue out of

It's not really salive, it's a mucous that helps them grab and hold their prey. And yes it is very sticky, and disgusting when they get it on you.
