Corny ALWAYS relieves herself on the bed!

CornSnakeBabe Oct 23, 2004 07:29 PM

I usually let Corny sit with me on the bed while I'm on my laptop doing schoolwork or whatever. After an hour or two, she goes to the bathroom on the bed! the past 4 fuzzy-poop cycles have been in bed!

Could this be because she moves around/exercises more when she's out?

I don't think she poops because she's scared.

Also, I use Carefresh bedding and have a hard time finding poops in her cage. I am always digging in the carefresh to find her, and only once or twice since July have I found a poop! Is it absorbed into the carefresh? Or does she just "hold it" for me?

Shes saving it for you. Don't you feel lucky? Some corns dont want to mess their cages. i have found that you can pretty much guess when they will poop by watching to see how many days they go after feeding. Once you figure that out, just don't take her out at that time. Then once she goes then your safe.

You are right. If a snake is just about ready to poop, one of the best ways to stimulate that to happen is a little activity, especially handling. With mine, if they are overdue for a bm, I will handle them for fairly short periods of time knowing that I am running the risk of getting crapped on. I can't tell you how many times I have put a snake back in its cage only to find that it pooped within the next hour. Better there than on the bed.

If my corn hasnt gone for a few days after feeding and I want to handle her without her pooping on me. Ill put her in a bowl of warm water and within 2 mins she goes in the water. Maybe thats not good for them? I dont know but it saves the mess on me. My kingsnake wont go in the water though so he tends to always poop on me, the darling *L*
