what scale would you recommend?

for accurate readings to get the right water/perlite ratio, and just weighing animals etc.

Do an e-bay search for ".1 gram scale"

I actually have two scales, a small jewelry-like one that's accurate to .1 gram for ratios and most of my leos, and a larger bowl-like one for larger animals. Both were bought on eBay, it's cheaper than any local store I could fine.

Check eBay or check the mailing/shipping supply section of an office supply store for postal scales.
