HELP! Disclocated Leg!

hatchbkcivic Oct 23, 2004 11:08 PM

I think my CWD dislocated her leg. I am afraid it might have happened when I picked her up out of her log to feed her. I have called the vet and the vet ER and they both said if it doesnt seem to be bothering her to wait til Monday to take her to the vet, but I feel horrible that it may be my fault and am afraid it might be permanent. She doesn't even seem to notice it being non-functional. She still runs around and climbs on everything like usual, but the leg is just limp and it just drags behind her. Can someone please tell me what they think I should do???

Hi, I don't know much about dislocation but I took my waterdragon to a vet that didn't seem to know much about lizards, he gripped my babies really tightly and they didn't like it and really struggled, when I got Spyro home he didn't use his arm anymore and after about 3 weeks he was back to normal using it like he always did.

Carefully feel the limb for breaks and see if it really is dislocated. Use the opposite limb as guide for how it should feel. If it is dislocated, try to gently pop it back into place. If theres not a lot of swelling I am sure that it will be fine until you get to the vet.

I took Spaz to the vet yesterday. They did X-Rays and found that she has a fractured leg. The vet says she has MBD, which would have been a result of her prior situation, as I only acquired her last week (as a wild caught according to the employee of the pet store). So I now have her taking calcium syrup orally daily, as well as an antibiotic for a swollen foot (she was missing a digit on her front foot when I got her). I have her set up in a temporary home- I have her in a large rubbermaid bin with bark and a water dish. She is not allowed to climb or play, either alone of with my other dragon Yoshi, and I found that having her in a glass terrarium, she would try to climb up or go through the glass, so having her in an opaque container keeps her from trying to climb. I also have to take her outside for at least 3 hours per week so she can get direct sunlight. I take her back in 2 weeks for a checkup. Hopefully everything goes well and she heals up. Wish me luck!
