More questions about feeding burms.

iluvblackfrancis Oct 23, 2004 11:49 PM

I was told by you all to feed my burm small rats. I was finally able to measure him, and he's about 32" long. I traced his body with a shoe lace and then measured the shoe lace. I haven't been able to get any small rats, so I've continued feeding mice until I have enough to order them off the internet. I bought two mice today for him, and he ate one, but not the other. Is it ok to refreeze mice? Also, who is a good business to buy small frozen rats from? I want about ten or fifteen.

Dont refreeze rodent, not a good idea. ALso, I use RodentPro which I have had good experiences with. However you will want to order much more than 10-15 mice to make it worth the shipping cost.

I use Rodent Pro as well. But you need to order a lot to make the shipping worthwhile.
Maybe if you know other people that need to order rodents you can go in together on an order.
Another idea. A Reptile Show...you'll find rodent vendors there.Same thing, if you know others that would be willing to split packs of rats or mice with you.
Show vendors are usually reasonable, and no shipping costs.
And a 32" burm that wont eat two mice. We need to fatten him up...lol

My 36 inch burm eats 4-5 large mice every 7-10 days you may need
to feed him more.

The best way I've found is go to a local herp show and talk with the feeder vendors. See if any are in your area. If so, find one you like and purchase enough from them to last a month or 2. This way they store them, there's no shipping, and you don't have to pay the show fee or wait for the show to come around again.
