i don't often post here, but i've been a faithful reader for 5 years or so. i've bought snakes from some of you, and i keep in touch with some of you. and i know some of you in your own right. i've admired your boas, and you have said nice things about mine. i have owned several herps including an albino boa. my talks with hermann have been brief, but i have always been overwhelmed with his friendly attitude and offer to take fellow herpers into his home. i respect everyone's efforts to breed the snakes that they love and continue to wish to see for years. but it's no small threat that the animals we have loved for decades are rapidly losing their homes. why are we arguing with the few people who will keep peruvians around long after they have disappeared? it would be a true tragedy of the snakes we have loved became lost. boas come in varied colours and patterns. things we have all learned to become passionate about. the war-paint blotches on peruvians, the washed out pastels of some of the island breeds, the blue-grey of the costa rican boa. do we really want this gone? why can we not appreciate those who continue the legacy of our beloved animals? i would like to thank hermann for keeping these snakes around for us so that one day the next generation can appreciate the snakes that i loved as a child. i love the variants of boas... even down to the genetic 'oopsies' of the albino and the snows. but the originals must not be forgotten or lost. hermann's collection is a testament to the amazing variety of true nature. of soon to be lost archetypes.
so i'd like to say hermann, that you do reach those who merely lurk. i have appreciated your boa website and photos. and i want to thank you for making available to us what modernity and 'progress' are taking away from us.
