Hey Rob got a question

rottenweiler9 Oct 24, 2004 01:11 PM

Do you think its ok to switch my burm to feeding her every 14 days instead of every week. She is eating rabbits. She is two years old a little heavier than 40 pounds and is about 10 ft.

Thanks in advance.
Jeff

Absolutely; in fact, I would recommend it. Your snake will be much healthier as many captive burms are overweight. If you look at wild burms/indian pythons, they tend to look much leaner due to a reduced opportunistic diet. I feed my burms two appropriately sized rabbits per month and they are long lived, perfect specimens. Heck, you could probably feed once a month and get the same results but I would rather go twice monthly just to be safe as my burms get a LOT of activity outside of their cage and as such, burn more calories than typical captive burms.
