41 yr.old camera newbie!

O.K.,So I try to upload a photo To K.S. gallery taken with my new digi-cam and I get a message saying that my photo size is too large and I need to reduce it to at least 1200 x 1000 pixels.How do I do thiat?I have searched all over my picture project program and don't see how to re-size a photo.ANY help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.
P.S.CURRENT SIZE IS 1600 X 1200.

It depends on what software/system you have.

Photoshop and other photo processing programs offer the option of resizing in various ways. MS Photo Editor, MS Paint, etc. do it equally well. You will have to search the menus.

You can also do it directly in Windows XP, using the Windows Explorer. Just open the folder containing the image and right click on it. You should see an option to resize the photo. Make sure you save it as a copy (click the advanced tab on the resizing window).

If you have Windows XP, it will downsize picture files to 640X480 (VGA screen resolution). Just left click the file, select "Email this file" from the left hand menu. Windows XP will start Outlook Express mail program, and ask you if you want to resize this picture to be more easily seen, and faster download. Click on YES, and it will resize your picture, and attach it to a blank email. Right click the attachment, and save the attachment (it is usually about 50-80K), and upload this. It's a lot of work, but it's free.
