newspaper article

PACMAN101 Oct 24, 2004 05:36 PM

In a newspaper article I read today a lady who had a pond in her backyard come home from vacation to find the semi-tame bullfrog that had been living there dead.Cause of death-attempted to eat a bird and suffocated. The birds' head was inside the mouth of the frog and it was stuck so tightly they couldn't pull it out.The ladies' husband is A high school biology teacher and says in the article hes never heard of frogs eating or attempting to eat birds.Apparently hes never seen a pixie frog before.....

I do a lot of bass fishing, and as a boy, did a lot of bullfrog catching. So I spend or have spent a lot of time in swamps and ponds.
It is amazing what a bullfrog will eat. I have seen them jump out of the water after a bird. They look as though they were shot from a cannon.
And I used to use small bird wings tied with fishing line to a fishing pole and waved in it front of their faces to catch em when I was a boy. Highly effective. They would literally explode on them.
Big fish...big bait...big frog... big prey.
Real simple theory.
