Is this the first time you have seen him to this? Is there any discharge or bubbling in the mouth? Does he look as is he is gasping for breath or more like he is "yawning"

What did he eat an hour before?

What are the temps (highs and lows)like in his enclosure?

It could be nothing, it could be that he had a piece of food caught in his throat, or it could be the begining of a resp. infection. Giving the details about might help people to give you a more acurate answer. If you see this behavior more often, dont wait for a response on the forum, get your dragon to a vet

good luck!

As stated above, gaping can be a sign of an upper respitory infection. It can also be a sign of high temperatures. It can also be a normal event after eating a large meal. Many people observe gaping after eating certain foods like zoophobas, for instance. Check him for excess saliva by massaging his throat forward, if any drool comes out, its probably a respitory infection, kick up the heat and see a vet as soon as you can.

He ate about 15 meal worms. He is only about 1 and a ahlf feet long so hes not to big and the temperatures in his cages is a little on the cool side. there are no fluids coming out of his mouth when hes opening it and it doesent really look like hes trying to breath when he does that

if it happened just after the meal and stopped, you can consider that waterdragon for "Tat's a spicy meat-a-ball!!"
