Other than Lemons, What line of pastels holds color the best? more....

wingert Oct 24, 2004 07:40 PM

What line has the highest average value. Are separate lines compatable?
Thanks for the help. I am sure these questions have come up before. I just want some opinions.

Checkout Andre over at ASF Reptiles. I bought an amazing male pastel from them. Excellent animal!

They are compatable. Lemons will brown as much as any others out there. Every line has good & bad ones.

Chad,
Would you say it is somewhat obvious to tell a good juvie from a great one? Is it worth buying top end? Say I can pick from a dozen Lemons, would picking the best one be worth the extra money or can any pastel throw a chapion for that line. I can see where some lines are obviously more attractive so I know what line I would most like to have. Let me know what you think

Its really kind of the luck of the draw from what I can tell...
I've seen some ugly ass pastels come from pretty parents...and I've seen some beautiful pastels come from ugly parents...
Maybe if its proven that a certain animal produces mostly pretty babies that usually stay that way...I'd be willing to spend the extra money for it. I don't really believe too much in the lemon/blonde pastel thing and I've definitly seen some ugliness come out of those lines as well...IMO its mostly marketing...
....and the stonewash pastels?....most are ugly no matter what way you look at them....lol...I think Camlon has the only stonewash that I think looks good.....

That's what I thought may be the case. So any decent looking pair can make some good, some bad, and some Supers. I know what it is I must do now.

blondes and ruppel line stonewashed tend to have the highest market value right now. however i like grazianis.

We have a number of pastels from Mark Bell and they get better looking by the day. Granted, they are only yearlings at this point, but they are better looking now then what they were a year ago.

We just received a 900g Blonde Pastel male and he is dramatically more intense than the 500g Bell Pastel male we have. When we pulled it out of the bag we both said "wow, is this for real!?" lol. He is really something. We'll see what kind of variety we get in next years hatchlings.
