humidity problems please help

mmdogg101 Oct 24, 2004 10:17 PM

I have a 20 gal long terrarium with a glass top. It is supplied with a habba mist and a tropicair. My analog humidity gauge is at 79% however my digital guage is at most 50%. I get condesation on the glass so im thinking its higher than that. but i dont trust the analog gauge and I know it wont read as high as I need it to. I find that the habba mist doesnt work very well and has almost flooded my substrate. Whats wrong with my set up? Do others have luck with the Habba mIst? How I know which guage is reading correctly.Help!!!!!

If there is condensation forming on the glass then your humidity is pretty high and i don't think you have anything to worry about. You could always but another hygrometer and get a third opinion...

You thats the thing i did get a 3rd hygrometer and its reading 50% just like my other digital one.If I cant rely on my gauges is it possible to keep the humidity in proper ranges? Also does anyone use the Habba mist

i agree, as long as there is a good amount of condensation on the glass your humidity is fine. a good way of keeping a constant humidity level is to add or take out plants as needed.
