I just bought 2 QUAILS! anyone got any experience?

CornSnakeBabe Oct 24, 2004 11:12 PM

I just bought 2 coturnix/japanese quails for pets and for eggs. I also want to use the fertilized eggs to feed my corn snake and argentine B&W tegu, if that is safe.

How do I feed an egg to my snake (whole & raw or hard boiled & peeled?)

How do I feed an egg to my tegu? How often (if at all) is it safe so he doesn't "get addicted" to eggs? remember, these will be fertilized so no biotin deficiency risk.

Also, anyone with experience keeping them? I can't tell if I have a male (pix on quail sites are no good & I can't even find the pee hole never mind see if white stuff squirts out like they say)And how long are these little guys gonna live? no info on that either!

thanks for reading

I've had quail, I fed them gamebird breeder crumbles. You can feed their eggs to egg eating snakes raw, since in the wild they are obviously not cooked. Feeding them to tegus I am not so sure. They would probably eat them raw too.
