need a little help

ReptiKH24 Jun 29, 2003 11:56 AM

ok yesterday morning i found 2 eggs laid on the paper towels in the tank. i took them out without turning them and put them n a rubermaid container 2/3 full of perlite. I soaked the perlite and then drained all the water out. And the top is completely sealed. I dont use an incubator cause my house is so hot. It's usually about 85 and can reach 90 on a hot day. My question is how often should i open the container to allow ventilation and how often do i spray the perlite to keep it moist. Thanks

well I use vermiculite but Im assuming it may be the same way.
I open my containers once a week to let oxegen in. I dont spray them though. As for your eggs, did they pipp in?? they may have dried up if left on paper towels too long.

they looked dry but they were sticky when i held them and the paper towel was stickin to the eggs so i just put it in the container with a little bit of the towel sticking on becuase i was afraid of ripping the egg open. But the eggs have no dents so i think i got to them in time.

I open my incubating container up 2-3 times a week...just in case. But you don't have to do it more than 1 or 2 times a week. I just add a bit more water when the perlite seems to be getting dry.
