I've handled some nasty lizard injuries before, on snakes and uros, but I'm not as familiar with iguana medicine.
We have what I believe is a 2yo male iguana, rescued from a flea market vendor. "Rex" is very, very strong, but he has a small cut in the bottom of his tail, about 5mm across and 1mm deep. A picture, taken moments ago, resides at:

You can see the cut, which is near where his tail is shedding. He seems able to move the tail just fine, so I'm hoping this is just a nasty cut that will heal. From my observation, the brownness of his tail is a pending shed, and not a sign that the tail is in any danger.
He has eaten greens and drunk water; he's warming himself right now, and doesn't act stressed (though he is very defensive!) Our other iguanas (in other rooms) turn brown or gray when stressed. He's not even remotely tame, and we're just letting him get used to the new environment before trying to befriend him.
I've put neosporin on the cut; I used that treatment successfully on a Uro we saved that had an abcess in his side. What concerns me is Rex's color; it seems awful dark for an iguana, but maybe he's just dark naturally.
Any thoughts?
