Can Anoles be hibernated?

CollardGuy Oct 25, 2004 04:13 PM

I read online that you can imitate winter by lessening the photoperiod, but can they be put into real hibernation? I know they would acually get cold in Texas.

Anoles do NOT hibernate even in the northen portions of their range. They will seek protected places to spend the colder days and come out and even search for food if the temperatures are warm enough for insects to be about. There is a doctoral dissertation about the subject dealing with a population in Tennessee to that effect.
